Taylor Marine South Africa is looking for an experienced Marine Electronics Service Technician to join our Cape Town-based technical team.

IMPORTANT: Only candidates with SA citizenship, PR or working rights for South Africa can be considered for this position.

We operate across the South African maritime industry, providing professional marine electronics sales, installation, service and technical support to commercial fishing vessels, workboats and the recreational boating market.

The Role

This is a full-time position based at our Northgate Business Park - Cape Town office, with the majority of technical work carried out onboard vessels in Cape Town and surrounding ports.

We are particularly interested in applicants who already have hands-on experience working aboard South African commercial fishing vessels and understand the practical demands of the local marine environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Installation, commissioning, servicing and fault-finding of marine electronic equipment.

• Working with marine radar, echo sounders, fish finders, sonar, GPS/chart plotters, AIS, VHF/MF/HF communications, autopilots and related navigation equipment.

• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs both onboard vessels and in the workshop.

• Providing professional technical support to customers and vessel operators.

• Completing service reports, job cards and associated technical documentation.

• Working independently when required while contributing effectively as part of our technical team.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience as a Marine Electronics Technician or in a closely related technical field.

• Commercial fishing vessel experience – highly desirable.

• A sound understanding of marine electrical and electronic systems.

• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.

• Good practical installation skills and workmanship.

• The ability to communicate professionally with customers, skippers, vessel owners and other marine industry professionals.

• A willingness to learn and undertake further product and technical training.

• A valid driver's licence.

• The ability and willingness to work onboard vessels and occasionally outside normal working hours when operational requirements demand it.

Experience with Furuno equipment will be a significant advantage, although product-specific training can be provided to the right candidate.
